Parawing
Parawing is a new discipline designed specifically for downwind riding. It uses a small, soft wing similar to a parachute or kite. Unlike a kite, it has very short lines or no lines at all, and you hold it directly.
The primary function of the Parawing is to get you up on the foil. It provides a strong pull to lift the board out of the water. Once you are riding the swell (waves), you can depower the wing completely and let it drift.
This equipment is ideal for SUP foilers who want to do downwinders but find it hard to paddle up. The wing acts as an engine for the start. It saves your physical energy for the actual riding part.
The gear is lightweight and compact. Many models can be packed into a small pouch while you are riding. This gives you the freedom to surf the waves without holding a rigid wing in your hands.
It is a great tool for safety and range. If the wind is light or the swell disappears, you can use the Parawing to keep moving. It makes long-distance ocean crossings easier and safer.
